I'm a fan of your Red Sox Radio Rivalry map (and a huge baseball fan), and I want to try and make one of my own! I've noticed that acquiring the coverage areas of FM stations is pretty simple, but how did you determine the AM contours? I've explored the FCC M3 Conductivity Map and searched parameters about various AM stations, but I can't seem to determine the coverage area.

What was your method for determining them and getting the coordinates?

Oh wow. I didn't know it would be this easy! We work with Spatial Analyst a lot but had never used those tools. We were looking into network analyst and Marxan as possible software packages... but with the learning curve and the other projects it was proving too much for us... but this is perfect! Thank you!

Hi Maya,
Thanks for your comment. The methods I used to make the distance maps were straightforward (but always in Arc). Here are a few resources (Spatial Analyst overview, Euclidean Distance tool help & (my favorite) Near Analysis
Hope this helps!

Hi, I have been reading your different "Distance to..." maps in hopes of learning how you do these maps but I haven't found any mentions of software or techniques. I have been working with digital cartography and GIS for 10 years but haven't experimented with network analysis yet. We are doing a geospatial analysis of protected areas in a Caribbean island that could benefit from a "Distance to..." analysis (not in road distance but in linear distance, although we're open to experimentation). When I saw your Distance from a liquor license map and especially the distance to Dunkin' I thought it'd be a good exercise to replicate with the protected areas. Could you please point me to a paper or online resource on the methods (or part of them) you used? Thank you for your time.
